Bought a brand new 400+ head 18 months ago. All tube. 4 preamp and 12 poweramp tubes!!!!
Been nothing but problems since day one. Considering the thing cost me £2000 and has a simple layout on the front panel, it's complicated and the tone is unreliable. The sound constantly changes during the gig and now one of the valve seats has broken and keeps blowing fuses. So much for hand built reliability!
I'm gonna have this thing fixed and even if it comes back fully re-furbished, sounding like a dream - i'm still selling it to get an Ampeg SVT-CL head. My confidence has gone with Mesa.
Sorry to burst anyones bubble - mine was burst 18 months ago the moment i plugged it in. |

Jeez I'm sorry to hear that. I have a used one and I'm at least the third owner....it's the best sounding (by far) most reliable head I've ever had the pleasure of owning/playing through. As with all companies....there has got to be some lemons that leave the production line every once in a while. Again....sorry to hear about your problems! |

Shame, owned two and they were awesome heads. Tube were a bit pricey but the tone and power was fantastic. Never went with the SVT CL because of the 40kg weight. Gets tiring after a bit. _________________ Canadian in the Midwest, meeting new people, jammin with my band. Love your own music because someone has to! |

Sounds to me like you don't have some setting tweaked out right. I have played with a bass player for 3 years now that uses the 400+ and it is by far my favorite sound. He plays a Jazz through it, and it sounds so funky and mean. This is the first complaint I have ever heard of with mesa line products. I have a triple rect, and while I would like something else to accompany it, I would never get ride of it.
