haha
i was in there the other day
i was just sitting there playing a stingray
and one of their employees come up and grab a bass and sits across from me.
he stares me down, grabs a cable, drops the bass, picks it up,plugs in.then he starts a sad attempt to play some jaco i think.

i laughed and went back to drooling over and playing the stingray.

later in guitar center i over hear someone talking to a GC employee....

person-"i need some nickel strings."
GC employee-"what are you talking about, all strings are make of steel."

hahahaha

we could post ad nauseum about this topic, let's just say it all depends on the person, in every field you have experts and professionals and you have the novice and the guy there just to get a paycheck, just move on, knowing that you are more informed and don't need those sales people to "help" you make a decision about a purchase.

Thats funny you should bring this up! I was in GC the other day and asked for some pickup springs for a pair of humbuckers and between the four dipshirts behind the counter, not one of them had the slightest idea what I was talking about. I turned around and walked out vowing once again to never return.

It depends on who you are dealing with. Some are dumber than a box of nails...and some are really good...that is why you figure out the really good ones by talking to people before you go in...get names from others...etc. And when you get a really good one and a good rep going then it pays off in the end. But...it is that way with any business.

Absolutely dude. I don't like ANYBODY at the guitarcenter by my house except for this guy named John. He hooked my up with my new rig for cheap. Its a GK 700rb head, a SWR Goliath III and and ampeg classic cabs. That thing tears the place apart when I use it at gigs

they are worthless many times. The only time they are good at is at finding a price and charging you for it.
