Hello B-dogs,
Quick question, I have adjusted the action of my bass and it is where most of the pros say it should be.
I play finger style, and still get the extra harmonic on the A-string. Obviously, at the 5th and 7th frets even more of a problem when I am not trying to let it ring.
What do you guys do to mute when you are playing? Hope to hear any suggestions for this. Thanks
Peace!! |

Um how about not muting actually ON the frets, try halfway between frets, thats should stop the harmonic ringing out.................*goes off muttering to try it and see if it works* _________________ Visit http://www.planetrock.co.uk/default.asp You KNOW you want to! |

If it bothers me I play the note in a different position.
But I don't mind overtones. |

If you are talking about muting with your left hand [right handed player] just make sure you are laying more than one finger or part of your hand against the strings and no harmonics can ring out. Same thing when you are doing a slapping thumping line, you never just mute with one finger or you risk making it sound out a harmonic almost anywhere on the neck. But especially around the 5 and 7 frets where you are most likely muting. Lay a couple across them strings! _________________ http://www.bassplayermusic.com
