Ive never tried one out before, although(in my opinion) all Ernie Ball Music man kind of bass guitars are friggin awesome and would probably get one if I had the money, maybe you should try it out before you get it, because you might not like it, but I would Rolling Eyes

Bass player magazine rated them very high. They called them the Stringrays of this generation (something like that, can't rember teh correct wording the magazine is in my tool box at work.)
Anyway, I think anything from Ernieball, I think you will be happy with, I am looking at a BOngo 5 myself it is in the air between that a few other basses, but teh sub looks very nice.

Me neither. I felt this sudden surge of completeness when I touched a stingray for the first time though.

well. i played a sub several weeks ago. not bad exactly, but they don't eliver for their price. i'd recommend buyinga MIM Fender Precison and then outfitting it w/ your PUs and electronics of choice...

my 2 Eurocents...

I agree that MIM Fenders are a pretty good bass for the price. I had a MIM jazz and was thinking of upgrading to a USA jazz but after playing them I didn't see a reason to. The only problem I saw with the MIM Fender was electronics noise and as you pointed out that's an easy fix. Think I'll have to get another one someday.

I own a SUB. I can afford a Stingray, but frankly the ones I played just didn't impress me nearly as much as the SUB did. And, mind you, before I ever played one I pretty much hated the finish just on general principles. I'm an old-school P-bass guy, I like to see sunbursts, wood, or other traditional finish. After playing the SUB, though, it all makes much more sense. This bass rawks! Though a two-band eq rather than three, I find no problems in dialing in whatever tone I want, whether midrange-heavy or low end dub bass. The neck is, for me, one of the faster ones out there and very comfortable--the neck finish is swwwwwwweeeeeeet! The slab body takes some getting used to. No belly cutaway, no comfy angle to rest your arm on. Still, it's a very playable bass and the finish is perfect for the guy who doesn't wanna worry about chipping a bass more suitable for framing than jumping off risers and spinning around with onstage. This bass has bucketloads of output and with a pick can cut through concrete. Fingerstyle with the tone rolled off you could slide right into a dub reggae band no problem. It begs to be slapped, as Stingrays likewise do. Sounds great slapped!

Don't fear the SUB. This baby could be your new best friend.

mule, happy SUB owner

While on lay-off from my construction job I took a job at a major music chain,I did it to further my apprenticship skills as a luthier, and in my opinion they are a decent bass for the money.
I cant justify the money it costs for a stingray or sterling,so a S.U.B. is a good runner-up,what I look for in a bass first off is a good neck and solid frett work, and this bass has both, secondly is the p/up tone which is the same one used in the higher priced M.M's.
I almost got one but went with a Fender H.W.1 JAZZ,which to me is more versitile,I have a slamming p-bass ,so I have the booming bass sound covered quite well.
I am a fan of all things Fender including GL'S and M.M's,and you cant go wrong with an idea that is the best around,I'm not to impressed with the mids that the S.U.B. has but you cant have everything. Surprised

I have played both and to tell you the truth i like the SUB better. these are good basses.

for the shape and odd pick up placement I would never get a Bongo and if they gift me one I would trade it for a stingray or Sterling or SUB anyday. Very Happy
