Ok, I absolutly love the Warwick Neck Thru Thumb bass, and I will own it someday..... but not right now. Here is my question, Does it make sence to refit my Ibanez SR885 with EMG pickeups just like on the Thumb? Will it give me that sexy growl or am I just being simple. Thanks for any feedback. _________________ Life is too short not to make music |

Thanks for the respomse! Did you only use the pickups or did you replace the elecrtonics as well? Is the tone much different? I can get a pretty good growl if I really push my mids but don't want to sacrifice clarity. _________________ Life is too short not to make music |

I notcied a pretty big difference in tone. I can get a decent growl from it but not anywhere as close to as good as my BTB405QM. |

| Well I have an interesting bit of information, the stock SR 885 pickups are from EMG if they are the J shape ones. Growl from EMG pickups would be a new experience for me. As for getting that Thumb bass sound based on the pickups, actually, it is the Bubinga body and that neck that is doing it with that one. I have played enough Thumbs and own a Bubinga Tobias Killer B and really, it comes pretty close, but a bit cleaner due to the Maple/Purpleheart neck. Nothing like a Thumb. Start saving your pennies. |
