New guy here...and owner of a Rogue VB-100 violin bass that's a Hofner "Beatle Bass" copy.
If you do a bit of internet searching on this model, you'll find long discussions about it at the Fender Forum (many owners there) and Talkbass. The consensus is that it's an excellent bass for the money.
I've had the Rogue for about 18 months, and it's a super value. Workmanship and finish is excellent, electronics have been trouble-free. It balances nicely (short-scale) and is light and pleasant to play during a gig. The only shortcoming out of the box is the nasty light gauge strings that come on it - the first time I played it, I thought the bass would be useless, it sounded so tinny. I put on a set of Labella Hofner Flats and that completely transformed the bass into a great sounding Hofner clone.
I can't speak for the other Rogue models, but the VB-100 is a definite winner, and a worthwhile addition for anyone who wants a bass of this style. |
