Just wondering what' s the difference between a Maple and a Rosewood fretboard on a Fender bass. Do they sound differently?
thanks,

They do affect tone... somewhat. I don't think the effect is as strong as many players would like to attest, but there is an effect.
Maple is a brighter tone wood, while rosewood is more mellow and rounded with better mid response.
You can read up on basic tonal qualities of different woods on the Warmoth site, for both neck woods and body woods. |

| I never realised they would have affected tone much. I have always chosen maple over rosewood simply cause I like the look. |
