Hello,

I'm new to the forum and would like to ask you something. Not too long ago I bought an Ampeg stack. I have a 350 watt ampeg svt 3 pro head, a 4*10 and a 1*15 classic cabinet. Now, my question is, when I play on my ampeg i get a really distorted sound, especially when i strike open notes. Is this normal? When i play on low volumes the bass sounds exactly how i want it to sound. A really fat, warm, deep bass. But when I crank it up i get nothing but distorted "thunder". What do you suggest?

This sounds like a familiar problem. I think that your gain setting is causing the distorted sound. I have found that turning the gain setting to the 3 o'clock position provides a cleaner sound. I have the same set up as you do and love it, a lot of punch. It took me a couple of times to get the rig dialed in, but now I have a handle on it.
