| I want this amp! Does anyone own one, or does anyone have positive experiences with them? |

| I've never owned one, but from my experience of playing them, they're not worth the price. The Mesa M-Pulse and Ampeg 4-Pro all put it to shame, but don't entirely trust me. I don't know too much about them. |

| I think the 750X is awesome and it actually got outstanding reviews. Just as good, if not better than the Mesa M-Pulse, actually. |

I know this reply is a little late for the above posts but I thought I would write it anyway, seeing as im so stoked with my 750x!
Im playing in a club every weekend so I needed more power, and my 350 just wasn't cutting it as it was only putting out 240 into an 8ohm goliath. So I looked at the Ampeg SVT4-pro as well but honestly, it was like $1000 more, and though thats not too much more, I had some other issues as well. The Ampeg is an incredibly powerful amp, and at its lowest out pu bridged it still put out something like 900w in to 8ohms which is too much for my goliath (i know I could run it but i didn't want to rish destroying my cab!) The ampeg could also run at a lower power setting to from memory, bu it ended up being 350 into 8ohm, rather than the SWR750x's 450 into 8ohms, which was preferable.
Don't let the 450w into 8ohm fool anyof you out there who are looking at buying one of these! the apparent volume is nuts! I dont like the fact that if i want 750w I have ti either buy another 8ohm cab or get a single 4 ohm but hey...what caan you do.
The feature this thing has are great! I especially like the pan knob that controlls the DI signal out the back of the unit: this is awesome when you are try to get the optimum level comming out of your sub crossover set up or the front of house. The built in effects are great also. I atually prefer the subwve effect (octave) than my bass OC2!
The sound of the amo is great also! Someone I knoiw said that they were tonally just an overgrown 350, although I dont agree with this...Its entirly individual, alot cleaner, alot louder, and one of the quietest amps Ive ever used: plus it looks lethal!
So go the SWR 750x! you wont regret it |

Hi to everyone!!! I am new here and my name is Ilias...I am also considering buing swr750x....I don't know why but i think it has it all in a very good price!!!Messa boogie amps are very expensive for my pocket....Another solution for me would be EBS bass heads...What do u think about this label...I used one of them (the FAFNER model) in a studio work of mine.... _________________ FEELINGS SO DISTORTED.... |

Another newbie here, resurrecting this thread as I just bought a used 750x the other day for only $500 at Guitar Center. It must have been mis-marked, as the serial number didn't match the price sticker, and I saw a used 550x at another GC for the same price, but they went ahead and gave it to me for that price anyway. Yeah for me!
I was using an Interstellar Overdrive through a WorkingPro 700, but this 750x blows that setup away! I love the overdrive on the 750x because it can get a warm and vintage grind, yet remains smoother than the I O/D and stays quiet. It gives me the ability to switch between either a warm vintage or a modern clean tone that is stellar!
The Subwave is pretty good too if you use it modestly, pretty close to the first octave down on a Boss OC-2/3. But what really surprised me is that the limiter does so good, it has replaced my Analogman Mini Bi-Comp! Don't get me wrong - the Mini Bi-Comp is awesome, giving you both a boutique Ross/DynaComp compressor and an Orange Squeezer in one compact pedal, but the SWR can be both transparent or it can put a sweet squeeze on the slaps and pops, plus it does it with no waterfall hiss, and it also protects the power amp at the same time! And anything that frees up space on my pedalboard and protects my amp is a huge benefit!
Another cool thing is that the 750x is totally handmade in Southern California by many of the original SWR guys who were making them even before the Fender takeover. US made, handbuilt and tested, incredible clean and grindy tones, superior effects (especially the overdrive and the limiter), the chrome surrounding the faceplate, and the simple layout make this my ultimate pick.
Plugged into a Goliath III 4X10 and dialed in right (the limiter can actually reduce the perceived output if set too strong and preamp gain plays a big role too), this thing is punchy and strong and dynamic! Plugging my Warwick Thumb NT into it is pure authoritative bliss!
Now I have my favorite bass and amp of all time! |
