hello all,
got a bit of an issue that i'm hoping one of you bass fiends will be able to help with.
i've been having some issues with my beloved Ampeg SVT2-Pro. after many tests carried out by an electrical engineer/bass fixer, it was found that one of the main 6550 tubes (the big ones) was on the way out. no problem i thought, and have replaced the pair of them with a new matched pair.
i've followed ampegs instructions on changing tubes to the letter and now bias 2 is staying green for a while then flickering more towards red, so my question is, does anyone know why this might be? all the other tubes were checked out and were fine, the new tubes are a brand new matched pair and are seated correctly, i've given it plenty of time to warm up before putting anything through it, so i'm now at a bit of a loss. any ideas???
oh, whenever i put anything through it, no matter how soft it is, i'm also getting some speaker crackle but i think that probably dust on one of the contacts because as soon as you tuen the master volume, it crackles as you turn the dial.
so......can anyone help me?????
thanks in advance,
