I've always loved medium guage, but my last bass came with lights. I'm impressed!

It all depends on the bass. Some basses I use fater strings due to the natural tone of the bass. For instance on my rickenbacker I use fat strings because for some reason the smaller strings make the tone too bright.

Sometimes I like to try different gauges out, but on the bass I have it sounds better with medium gauge, but all basses sound different with different strings

Ernie ball power slinkies. I don't know how in the hell i got into Ernie ball, but I must say, I have a set of power slinkies on right now that have at LEAST been on my bass for a good 4 months, and they still sound bright and good
