Hello, everyone. I was wondering what I should get for my first bass. I called my local bass place today to set up lessons, and I think I am going to rent a bass and amp. first. I was wondering what would be a good first bass? I really like the Ibanez GSR200FM. So if anyone can give me input on that bass, good or bad, or give me advice on any other good beginner basses, that would be great.
Also, advice on an amp. that is good for beginners that I could rent out would be great too! |

for beginers that have never played or even fooled around a bit I would suggest a nice Fender P or Jazz bass.. those are the best to learn on for the simple fact of the spacing between strings on the fret board. always a nice clean tone and solid action.. they are cheap and just right for the price, can prolly pick one up for under $200.. as for an amp if you just need something to practice check out those small combo deals with the 12" speakers... like a nice small Gk or Beringer.. since it will be your first and shouldnt have to be a high performance model you wont be needing something like an Ampeg 1200watt or full stack GK with 40 speakers..
I say you will spend about $350 to get a bass and small amp..
guitar center has those package deals with the Ibanez 4 string and practice amp for like $300.. look in to that as well |
