Welcome very soon to the dark side, but let me clear some things up. the bass in the picture is an SB 300 early to mid seventies and most definately
not a 64 eb-3. so that will have an impact on the percieved value of the bass which should be anywhere from $500 to under $1000 USD.
it is still an excellent bass and a nice piece of Gibson history so good luck and enjoy thunderthunping.

Thank you, it's much appreciated. I would like to know how you can tell all the details just by looking at the picture. Is tre some sort of look to it or something that distinguishes it? Please tell me. We are under the impression that it is a Gibson SG 1964 Original EB3 and that we are getting ripped off. Right now we are paying $1,600 for it. So I would really like to save ALOT of money on this bass. Please reply Rd_Artist.

go to this web site, it has a lot of usefull information on Gibson Basses.

http://www.gibsonbass.com/
besides the fact that I have been a Gibby player since before you were born, have a look at my main bass.

if you look on the web site you will pictures of the EB-3 and also the SB 450 which is a higher model of the SB series and you can compare the differences.

whoa, no no no 1600... Eb-3`s have a large soapbar humbucker at the neck, and a mini-bucker at the bridge, are made of mahogany, separate tone/volume controls for each pickup and a birds-beak rotary varitone switch. a gibson built before 72 will have no "made in america" stamp on the back of the headstock, post-72 will. a 64 EB-3 will be a shortscale (30.5") and sb-400`s are longscale. an older eb-3 has a black pickguard, sb300`s dont. a 64 eb3 in good shape will bring 1000-3000 dollars depending on condition, originality etc... sb-300`s were made in the mid-late 70`s and bring FAR less, like RD said - perhaps 500 or so. but, as RD said as well, its still a nice bass... but dont pay 1600 for it! and congratulations on having fine taste in musical instruments - Razz

heres a real 1964 EB-3

THANK YOU GUYS. My dad has seen this bass and still thinks that it's what they told us at the pawn shop. Man, never buy basses from a pawn shop. We already have like about $500 in it. We put it into storage so we could pay it off alittle at a time. Soo I guess we should go down there and put em straight. Well thanks a million.

I hope that the pawn shop is reasonable and willing to work with you I would like to some sound clips when you get it I would be interested in how the the humbuckers on the SB series basses sound.
