I would say it's possible, you will need to have the bass setup again after installing the neck. a lot of people think that a maple fretboard makes for a brighter sound than the rosewood this may be true, what I would do is go to the Fender web site and look at the specs for your bass and try to find a neck with the same specs i.e. radius , c shape u shape v shape whatever it is ,width at nut . just to make sure that you will have a nice fit when it comes to installing the new neck. _________________ "I'm not a man who likes to swear, but I never cared for the sound of being alone." |

I dunno if you need to look at all those specs to figure out if it'll fit your bass; but you do have to make sure the heel and socket are the same size/shape. Everything else (C/U, nut width, radius, etc) doesn't effect whether or not it will fit, but will effect how it feels.
Actual neck length is something to watch for too. While you could get a longer or shorter neck, to maintain scale length, you may have to have your bridge moved foreward or back to accomodate it.
But yeah, get a complete setup if you replace the neck; things won't be properly set when you install. |
