|
|
Just a quick question, I'm looking to buy a new bass and I'm not sure what I want, I've only got $1,500 AU if I pinch & scrape. I have currently a Squier Precision and a Jap J-Bass fretless with a Behringer bx 1200 amp. Except for the J its just the stuff I got a few years ago when I started out and I'm looking to upgrade.
The question is though, which P-Bass to get, I would dearly love to own the American model with S1 switching but thats out of my price range. I also want a bass with a maple fretboard and one can't get those with the highway or standard series. The only other option is the active MIM p/j model, but I'm a bit worried becuase they're beginning to look over the top with the four knobs and all and a few people I've spoken to say they're not that good, the body's a bit smaller, etc. Someone suggested on another forum that I get the standard or highway and replace the rosewood fretboard with a maple one, any suggestions?
Whats a decent amp that I could get to go with this? I don't gig or any thing so it doesn't need to be able to blow the roof off. Just something thats versatile and has a good sound...
I'm also going to sell the j-bass and squier, whats a fair price to sell 'em at?
Thanks in advance |

It looks like you won't be able to find a Fender Precision with a maple fretboard within your price range, unless you find something used. What would it cost to have the fretboard replaced, do you know? _________________ I've recently done tons of reflecting on my life and have come to the realization that my life is awesome |

I'm not sure, I think the luthier said the max I'd have to pay would be $400 AU... but again, not positive...
I could always get the J-Bass re-fretted, it is a really nice bass after all, but I'm a bigger fan of precisions, and that offset body on the J is a bit off-putting to me |

I just snagged a p bass deluxe.
It's got a p body and a j neck.
Active eletronics.
p/j p/ups
The j neck's slimmer,
the p's the sound
too sweet |
