I finally done it!!!!
Threw caution to the wind and bought a brand new 4003MG!
The neck is a little wider than my 82 4003S, but it still plays soooo nice.
The pickups are a lot hotter, and the body is slightly different, than the S model.
But it's still a very cool bass |

Yeah, it does sound sweet! You didn't have to sell off any gear so it would have a spot, did you ? Don't set it down anywhere, 411 sounds interested . |

I agree with you Crom.....
I have loved them since the 70's, this makes 3 of them
Sold the first back in the 80's (stupid move!!!) and still have the second
And now the third
everyone should get one, they're the coolest bass out there. that doesn't look like it should be a piece of furniture |

I used to have a Hondo II rick copy back in the ealy 80's, I loved that Bass it was even stereo wired like a real Ric, unfortunately it was stolen, but when I recieved the insurance check I went and bought a brand new Gibson Rd Artist with active electronics, I have had that bass for 21 years and I still love it.
I was playing a couple of the new Rics at a local music store and they just didn't bring back the magic of that humble copy did from so many years ago. |

I took my '82 4003S model to the local GC to try out some preamps. Couldn't believe all the looks and comments about my bass and the 'sound', it has the good old Ricky growl!!!!!
I like my new 4003MG, but my favorite is still the '82 4003S AzureGlo. It play just as good, if not better than my old '77 4001BG |

My first post here!!
I recently purchased a new '06 4003FL. It's an awesome bass. It has alot of great growly mwah to it. I find the neck very comfortable, not too different from my 4001 basses. The vintage / modern circuit is a great addition to these awesome basses.
nimrodstu, I would suggest you buy a new 4003. You will get a new bass with a warranty, walnut head wings and the vintage / modern tone circuit. You might pay the same amount of money or more for a used one. _________________ Throw that piece of firewood where it belongs and get yourself a Rickenbacker! |
