Go with what you can afford. Obviously the 400 will be more versatile. The question really is are you looking for something to keep for a long time or something that you will just keep for a while.
I told you in the other thread that I have the 405QM and I love it. It has such a nice growl to it. |

Yep... Nothing to add apart from what I said in the Cafe. I reckon the 200 is a fine instrument. The only beef I have with them at this stage is that they do not come down in price as they are superseeded. You would expect them to become cheaper as better options are brought out, but they do not. That is why I suggest you only get one if it is brand new, not 8 years old.
As I mentioned, the EQ on the 400 + models is the only real addition worth talking about. Otherwise, Ibanez are happy with their BTB range and haven't changed a great deal. If you think the EQ is something that you will use, then spring for it. If not, the 200 is fine.
I generally use the EQ to switch from funk styles to more of a jazz thing. But I may go weeks without changing it, depending on where and what we are playing. It is times like that where I think, 'I should just get a fender P so I can slap and funk all day long...' But if I did that, I wouldn't have the flexibility WHEN I NEEDED IT. Apart from that, the EQ does nothing else. It doesn't pay my phone bill, put petrol in the car, or even walk the dogs. It's not something you should get too worked up over. If you need flexibility, go for it. If you don't, don't think twice about not getting it. _________________ Alright!

| I would highly recommend the 400 series. I recently bought a BTB406QMTK and it sounds absolutely amazing. It has honestly the best sound I have ever heard from ANY bass, ever. |
