Hello all you Rick owners,

I was just wondering what the onboard controls on Rick basses do? Aside from the 2 different outputs, what do the 4 control knobs and switch do?

I've been looking on the Rickenbacker site and a few other sites but there is no information on what the knobs do.

Thanks in advance for any replies Smile

Which model series? I'm guessing the 4003 as the 4004s sport only two dials and a toggle. I've been lusting for one of those bad boys for quite awhile (preferably a vintage 4001) and if I remember correctly, it's just like a regular guitar configuration. Two dials for each pickup.... one is volume, the other tone and the toggle is three-way, for neck, bridge or blend.

bcf717 is correct about the knob configuration. I provides you with a virtually unlimited sonic possibilities. What I have found, if you turn the neck pickup volume down just a bit, it changes the shape of the tone. When or if you get one, you just need to experiment. Rics have a sound and character all their own, but I'm kinda biased ( I own 2, soon to be 3 ).

Right now..... I have an AzureGlo(blue) 4003S (1982) and a MapleGlo 4003 (2003). My next purchase is gonna be a BurgandyGlo 4001 (1977), it will be a replacement of my first bass.

I seem to have a serious Ric Addiction....... lol

You are correct sir, about the unlimited tonal abilities of the Ric, I have a 4003 and love it, I still have a couple of other bass's (Fenders) but they are dust catchers now maybe one of these days I'll find a bargain on a 4001
