I've been playing bass for about a year and a quarter; I use a Johnson bass and a 15-watt Crate amp. I've been self taught since day one, and I can't write music so I have to write all my own stuff.

Here's my point: am I doing it right? Here's a couple recordings I made today... please excuse the terrible gear, microphone, my cold, and my stiched-up hand. :P

1 Random bits of various stuff I've written.

2 Something pretty?..

I don't know if there's anything I should/shouldn't be doing... help.

It sounds very good as a bass solo. I assume the windows-type sounds are unintentional. Slow down a little bit and think more about keeping a certain beat would be my advice. Welcome to bassdogs!

Dude, if that's where you're at after a year and a bit, then you have nothing to fear. Most players would be happy to get to that level after 15 years of playing.
I assume that because you're not reading/writing music, then you don't have a theory teacher, in which case, you are self taught???

I've been making money out of music for 12 years, and I probably couldn't of played at that level until about five or six years ago... and I am an improv/solo funk bassist!

There should be no problems with you making a million dollars.

A million bucks WOULD be nice. ^_^
And yes, I'm self-taught... not even a book or anything. I didn't know the word "fret" until someone told me that's what they were a few months after I started.

Yeah, I don't know theory. I just invented my own? :P
