Hey all,

I just got the call from the shop and my HA3500 head is in. I originally said I'd buy a 410XL with it but now I'm not sure if I should grab the 4.5XL with the extra 5" driver???

410XL has frequency range of 30hz-5Khz
4.5XL " " 30hz-12Khz

I play mainly heavy/melodic, punk, rock, hardrock & some various other stuff. Eg. deftones, at the drive-in, thursday, the used, weezer, millencolin, foo fighters, incubus, sparta, etc.

If this is more important, I'm not into jazz, rap, r&b or country. I'm not sure what you would classify as funk, but I like some bands similar to the style incubus.

Do you think It's more appropriate to have more speaker range?

Thanks all who contribute.

Will they let you plug them both in and A/B them in the shop???
I would go for the .5 if the extra fifty bucks or so won't break you. Regardless of what sound your currently going for, the 4.5 is a more versitile design that will allow you to experiment in the future.

The extra 5" driver is one more thing that can go wrong, and a drain on wattage IMO. But like MVE said, it has more to offer, and is guaranteed to cover all the usable frequencies from your bass plus some. If you're one of those BP's who need to hear every overtone and detail, it might be worth it.
