my favorite bass player is Flea from the red hot chili peppers, he's awesome and he uses alot of effects..awesome slapping techniques..

Les claypool, cause that guy is just freiken physco. And when i say physco i mean the best bass player ive come across yet

This is a tough one since there are so many. Honestly I would say its a toss up between Phil Lesh and Geezer Butler for me.

I love flea's style and he is definetly my fav, but i also like Jaco, becuase he's such a great musician and gets great tone.

too bad jaco's dead, huh. he , in my opinion was the best bass player ever, but as far as living, i would have to say les claypool, no one comes up with the stuff he does-

Sir Paul Mc Cartney, for sure. Sting has to be in there (Fender man). And, Sheryl Crow plays great bass.

i think its pretty close between flea and les claypool. they both have good basslines backed by theroy. they both slap great. and have their own styles that stand out.

even though les is my favorite (remember kids les is more) i really like flea also cause he is pretty insane.

Definately Flea and Jaco, I especially like Fleas bass line for 'Throw Away Your Television' its awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clifford Lee Burton, Metallica's original bassist from their first three albums, Kill 'Em All, Ride The Lightening, and Master of Puppets. Mainly because he could solo like hell and produce sounds that you wouldn't imagine possible on bass. You won't believe it until you hear it, so check out his trademark song "Anesthesia - Pulling Teeth" which is on their first album, Kill 'em all.

Personally I like Klaus Flouride from the Dead Kennedys. He attacks the strings and made incredibly sharp basslines in the minimilistic world of punk music.
