ok ive been playing bass for about 3 years now and im looking for a better bass. im currently playing a shockingly bad stagg bass.

i just got a laney 120watt amp about a year ago which improved things
i usually play rock, and a bit of funk.

ive got £500 budget and i really dont know what to go for.
ive been looking at fender jaguars, they look *Holy Censor, Batman* good but im not sure if i should go ahead and buy one or not.

so what bass would you guys recommend close to my budget?

also would i be better of just getting a j-bass instead of a jaguar because i heard they are very similar.

I picked up a schecter diamond 4 in Sound Control for about £440. Nice Bass, looks a bit Rickyish with the white edging (pic doesn't really show that) Active/passive with 2 band EQ, smooth player, quite a nice range of sound from it too. Not so good if you really wanna dig in an get dirty though, sound stays very clean.

Save up for it :)
I was playing one two weeks ago and loved it. I also think that if you've been playing this long, chances are, you're not going to stop suddenly. You may as well deal with having a sub par instrument for a couple extra months and get something decent quality that you won't want to replace for years to come.
