If you are just starting on bass, I would strongly suggest the Squire basses, especially the Vintage Modified Series, they are inexpensive and play great, so you will do well learning on them. if you get a really crappy bass and try to learn on that you may get frustrated and give up so I suggest the Squires, I have been playing for thirty years and I own two Squires and they stay in my regular rotation.
I hope this helps and good luck. _________________ "I'm not a man who likes to swear, but I never cared for the sound of being alone." |

| I started on a Cort Vintage Series 690 and have never had a problem in a long while. They stand up to abuse pretty well. |

for a beginner i would definantly reccomend fender.
either a fender american standard jazz or precision bass would do nicely.
(or squire which is just the low class brand of fender, they are okay for starting and are quite cheap)

I'm not sure I'd recommend buying an American Fender for a beginner... they're extremely expensive instruments for someone starting out and might find out that they have no interest in the instrument in the long term. Buying something cheap(ish) but still decent quality is the way to go, not major name brand. |
