OK everybody, need some help here. I've got a Italia Mondulo 4 string with 4 lipstick pickups. One for each string !! Very cool bass, but very low output. Just one tone and one volume for controls. I've tried changing pot values.

Anyone have any ideas ? Wire 2 to each control ?

Any help would be appreciated !!!!

Thanks. Cool

I would just get a good pre-amp. We use one by Behringer, tube pre-amp and can be used for mics or instruments. We've used it on gigs with no troubles at all. I'm not a big Behringer fan but these seem to work well.

MIC100 is the model we have, check it out.

Speaking of lipstick pickups and preamps, does anyone know if anyone makes active lipstick pickups for a Danelectro?

By the way, if the whole system is hooked to one volume and one tone, you may want to check to see if the pickups are wired in series or not. If they're wired parallel, you could always try wiring them in series. My Dano sounds fine with the pickups wired that way.

Solved my problem a long time ago with the Italia.

I have 2 of the new Dano re issues. Though their pickups are better than the Italia's------------- they are not close to any of the many old Danos' I own.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to my old Italia question.

PLAY THAT BASS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. Been busy with the band. Lots of miles the past year or so.

By the way-------------------- about everyone I know that has purchased the new Dano re issue bass is usinjg some sort of pedal pre amp. They look GREAT and play very well , but it seems the pickups are weak and have a THIN tone. Guess it depends on the sound you are after.

Thanks again for the hello message. It is indeed good to be back amoung the " Kings Of The Low End"!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep in touch.

That may have something to do with me using a Fender Jag-bass with stock pickups (though I'm planning on replacing them once I figure out the rest of the electronics modification I'm planning for it) as my main, which doesn't have the greatest output unless I put it in series and turn the actives on.

You might try one of the Behringer pre amp pedals. They are cheap and seem to work very well for low output pickups.

Good luck !!!!!!!!!
