Vintage AMPEG 76 SVT question's

Hello everyone - first post. I own three SVT'S, A 76, 79 and the Skunkwork teams limited edition head. Two 8-10 cab's, a 70 and a 76. Anyway my question is I just picked up the 76. When I opened it up one of the transformers have what appears to be a 1/4" gap in the middle of it. The other transformer is one solid piece as well as the two in my 79.
Caps also say Mexico on them and are blue - wondering if they are original? last one - The facesplate seems to be more of a grayish semi glossy color than the brushed aluminum faceplate on my 79.
