Hi! Well I'm new to all of this bass stuff. What I have right now is a bassman 200 in my garage. I thought this would be my very LAST purchase hoping it would be big enough to fill a small club however it isn't. It gets a little distorted and I don't think the audience hears what I want them to hear. Do you think getting a cabinet and relaying to it from my combo amp would be oK? If not... what do you suggest to fill a bar sized gig?

I had a similar problem once upon a time and a rotten fix is turning your Bass/Midd/Treb controls to about 4. But it works... and hopefully for you too. try turnign the volume on your bass down too and compensate with the amp by turning that up.

...BassMan 200? Is that a Fender amp??

If it's distorting, you have it up higher than it should be for your speaker load, and are overdriving the head.

Gain Control?? - guitar at playing volume, Master on amp down, turn up Gain until clipping light just starts to blink.
-Then, dial back just a bit and add Master volume to achieve the level you need and / or desire for your room.

Still not achieving the volume?...
-Check speaker/s ohms and head's output rating
-Is the rest of the band ear bleeding loud?
-Where do set-up? Front, middle, backstage???

Bass signals are 'omni' directional, and should be easly heard from most any seat in the house... unless of course, you're playing with two guitar players that have the volume controls on their 1,000 watt Marshall double stacks, cranked to 15!;^O
