| I have recieved a new Ibanez GSR-200, and the part where i plug my cord into on the bottom of the guitar is constantly coming loose. It starts to pop out, and although it dosnt come all the way out, it is pretty close to doing so. I try to push it back in, but it will just come loose again. Any advice on how to battle this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I have a similar problem with this bass. My first bass a few years back was the GSR-400 (same build, extra pickup) my main problem was the strap screws coming out. This instument's wood is just a step above a shell packed with sawdust... its that weak. so what I did is fill the hole with epoxy and screw it back in..... its still holding, but who knows for how long
good luck

Jared,
Sorry to read of your dilemma... I'm not very familiar with Ibanez GSR's. I have an SDR that had the same, but not as severe as your problem sounds. Since I was putting in new pots anyway, I decided to go ahead and replace the whole jack.
What I did find, however, if yours has a back plate for access to volume pots, battery/s etc., you may find that the 'star' locking washer is damaged and / or missing. You should be able to get a bag of a 1/2 dozen or so at the hardware store for about $1.50
Replace that lock washer and see if that doesn't resolve the issue...

| hmmm... maybe its the chord? is it bent at the end? is it straight? is the imput jack rusty? there could be many reasons... i have a soundgear sr885... droped it down stairs.. strap holder got riped outa the wood.. but imput jack seems pretty solid... hmmm.... |

You need to tighten it with a wrench or nut driver. Don't overtighten to the point you damage the pickguard or whatever it's mounted to, but it needs to have a bit of torque on it to get it to hold.
If it is something to do with a broken jack, then it will need replacement, but I think it just needs to be tightened down real good. _________________ Dave |
