I'll be replacing the pickups on my P-Bass and wonder which brand has a better reputation; Seymour Duncan or Dimarzio? Also, if anyone has any experience with these brands, your input would be helpful. I'm looking for a P-Bass sound with some boost. I don't want it to sound too hot or "electric" since I like the traditional bass sound for playing jazz, but I need something with some edge for funkier or more bass driven music.

Thanks.

im a p-bass player as well -anyway the dimarzio model p (dp122) will add big gain and is hot hot hot -this pickup will make just about any stock split p pickup sound like a sissy.another pickup i use is a seymour duncun hot vintage and i really love this pickup alot - it'll give you warm warm warm gain just were you need it .i actually sent one of my dimarzo model p pickups to seymour duncan to have it rewinded in hot vintage.
