so i goes and gits a brand new warwick corvette the other day. i also pick up a set of ernie ball regular slinky 5. when i get home i try to put the 130 (5th) string on but it won't fit down into the little groove. so apparently i can't use ernie ball. anyone know what brands of strings i can use? warwick brand strings is a given but i can't find that brand in my area.

If you take a small file like one you would use on a nut you can file the slot in the bridge so regular strings will fit. If you don't want to do this then you will only be able to use a tapered "B" string, the "E" sometimes is a tite fit, but will fit into the slot without filling the are.

Dude please don't file the nut. It's either graphite or brass. Have a luthier do that if you want. But the easiest thing to do is buy a set of taper wound strings..
