I took my bass to the local shop. Since the bass is new, I wanted to see if it needed set-up. Their string guy said the the neck itself is twisting and may need to be clamped. A few minutes later another guy (who worked there) came in and told me the truss bar is too tight. Loosing it will get rid of the bow and the buzz in 1/2 position.
I COULD loosen the truss myself. But, I'm kinda confused. Should I go to the luthier anyway? SHould I just do the truss rod myself?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

| The truss rod isn't terribly mystical or anything, you could probably do it yourself (if you have the tools). Just remember to loosen it at the most 1/4 turn at a time and let it settle for a while before adjusting again. |

Took it to the ocal music shop and their luthier, who I never spoke to, did a set up. Cost $50, which I guess is good.
I hassled the front desk clerk, though (I kinda feel bad about it now...). He was clueless and I wanted to see a list of exactly what was done to the bass. The whole store went quite. You woulda thought I was asking for the guys left arm or something.
Bass sounds better. Seems to react better.
