| Greetings, What can be done to 'loosen' the tension on the neck? I have a cheap bass to learn on, and has terrible string slap on the lower part of the fret board. If I tune up several steps, the neck bends enough for it play fine (except out of tune!). Can the neck be adjusted to fix this? What's involved? Thanks from another idiot! |

| try adjusting the truss rod.. at the top of the neck.. that'll reduce the tension on the neck... another thing is to perhaps adjust the sring action (distance of the strings from the fretboard), you can do that buy adjusting the screws on the bridge. |
