I have a Warwick Corvette series bass that was manufactured in the early nineties. The electronics in the active pickups went out after a few years, and the computer was replaced with a lower quality one. Just recently it has fried too, and I am wondering what I should do.

Should I try to find the system that was in there, (which is probably no longer manufactured), look for another pricey active pickup system in an effort to do the bass justice, or follow my friend's advice and switch to passive, using pedals to tweak my signal instead? I don't have a whole lot of money right now, but I'd like to have that bass back to its original sound. What are my good options?
