Hi all,

Firstly, nice to be here amongst other bass players.

I have a Schecter Diamond Series 4 string and Behringer BLX900A amp and have been playing for about 2 months.

My question was in regards to bass guitar maintenance. What do you do and use to keep it clean? Any feedback on this would be great as I'd like to keep my battle axe in great condition!

Again, great to be here! ROCK ON!

Is it painted or natural. If its painted just a soft cloth, if natural use a guitar oil from your local shop. Also use specific finger board oil to lift dirt etc!

Dry cloth will be fine on both, but if its painted, then a damp cloth is fine.
There are heaps of theories about fret board cleaning. I personally only give it a clean when changing strings (bi-monthly on average). I think that a bit of natural oil from your fingers is fine. You really only need to worry about regular cleaning of your fretboard (or guitar for that matter) if you're going to be playing after eating chicken wings without washing your hands!

If you use a spray lube, then you need to wipe it off. It won't do your axe any harm, but it will allow dirt to build up and will look grotty after a while. This can be avoided by wiping down your guitar after each use; that way you don't have to worry about an intensive cleanin regime!

I usually just wipe my axe down with the shirt I wore that day after packing it all down. It is good enough.
