|
|
| I bought a Samick P-bass and two of the tuning keys are loose at the post & plate area. You know, where there is a pin holding the flat part you turn with your fingers to the stem that goes to the gear head portion. anyway - it's a cheapo starter bass for my kids and I had to repair electronics and such before it would even work but here is my ordeal. I took a center punch and punched the center of the pin on one (making the chrome flake off of course) and the "mushrooming" snugged the one up taking the vibration buzz away - then another one came lose and I tried the same but cant get it to snug up. How do you repair this???? They are open gear type "licensed by Shaller" probably import tuning keys. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!! |

Most tuners aren't worth the time or expense of repair. Unless it's a vintage piece that is impossible to find and without it that 'worth mucho bucks' guitar won't be worth the mucho bucks anymore, I would suggest looking into simply replacing the whole set. Check the internet or your local music shop. I'm sure there's many available that would fit your guitar and budget that would give you better quality and stay in tune better. I've found a kid's interest stays longer with an instrument that works properly. Hope this helps. _________________ ....ain't happy unless the airport calls to complain about the noise...... |
