I have an original SVT head from 1970 on my bench right now and it distorts at all volumes, like good ol' 70's fuzz. It has new tubes and the fuzz is the same on both preamp channels. I checked all the bias voltages on the tubes both in the preamp and power amp and they are money. Someone had suggested to me that the output transformer was shot or there was a impedence problem at the output. Anybody have any ideas? I can't just swap out that monster of a transformer without knowing the original is bad.
