Reggae relies on feel more than complexity. Your notes should carry any reggae riff under the sun, so it's more about putting them in the right spots.

Instead of trying to explain it here, what I would suggest is that you listen to as much reggae as you can get your hands on. What you should start to notice when you listen to music is that you'll be fanging down the street, and the lines for the bass will keep coming into your head. You'll start to hear how it all links with the percussion, and it clicks... it is so simple you'll kick yourself!

Once any music is in your head and you're at the stage where you think about it ALL THE TIME, it's a short skip and a jump to actually testing it out on the bass. You know what you need to play 'coz it's in your head. You just need to work out where to put your fingers.

with reggae, it always seems to be that there is accent on the off beat, like if your counting it as "1 and 2 and 3 and 4" the accents seem to land on the "and". i'm pretty sure thats how you get that reggae feel.
but i've been wrong before

the best suggestion that i have for getting into any style new to you is just listen. dont tell anyone i said this, but go download a bunch of different reggae artists. you could also hit up like first wave ska and what not as it is really closely related. you could also hit up the 311 as p nut tends to rock that style sometimes
