Anyone wanna help me kick the hell outta this *One Eyed Bishop* guitar player who told me two days ago that the bass is the worst intrusment he's ever heard and only failed guitarists bother to play bass. He says hes better at bass than me coz he plays the guitar, like a guitar player can immedietly just play the techniques a true bass player can!!

Wow, guitar players can be prima donnas Laughing Laughing
One thing you will need to learn, there are ignorant people everywhere and every time they speak they prove it. Just remember this old saying
" never get into an argument with an idiot because you both will be thought of as one"

Yep... RD is right.

It's probably not so much that he plays guitar that causes his stupidity; he probably just got fed too much garlic as a child.

Don't let it get to you. At the end of the day, if that's his attitude, he's not going to make it far. I'd either boot him from the band, or take a leave of absence myself if it's intolerable. There's plenty of places where you will be appreciated for your bass playing as well as for your personality.
You don't have to suffer fools lightly, and he certainly sounds like he fits into the category of people who shouldn't be suffered lightly!

Let him know that you think guitarists are bass players who have girls hands!

Your guitar player clearly knows little or nothing about music, because only people who purely listen to music and aren't really very into it (playing instruments, etc.) say that the bass is an unimportant instrument that failed guitarists take up. Anyone who really knows about music will recognize the importance of the bass guitarist to any band. Avoid this person as he is clearly an ignoramus and you don't want his ignorance to rub off on you now do you?

I agree with Rk on that one. You really shouldnt take his opinion as anything other than word vomit. I'm assuming your guitar player is probably just a mediocore skilled person himself. I can guess that because it's only poor musicians who trash talk other musicians, in that they feel want to be "good" and try to make them self feel like they are by saying other's are bad. As if to chilishly say "I'm better than you". Or we could even go as childish as "My dad could beat up your dad" lmao. I can honestly someone who is actually good at playing music understands the importance of every instrument.

Um. If guitar players are bassists with girl hands, does that mean bassists have man hands?

And if so, do girl bass players have man hands?

::looks at her hands in great distress::

But, yeah, in any case, your guitar player needs an attitude adjustment. He won't get far in life saying drek like that.

No offense intended to the ladies. But as RD said, a guy with girl hands is wierd, as is a girl with guy hands. Now I get manicures myself... but I still have guy hands. In the same way, playing bass won't give you guy hands any more than a manicure will give me girl hands.
