i have a problem. my bass will only be picked up by a amp if the knob on the bass is all the way turned up the reason this alarms me is because it didnt do this yesterday so i was wondering what the problem is being caused by.

Hmm... What kind of bass do you have? If you have an active bass, could it be that the battery in your bass is getting old?

Could also be that you fiddle with your nob in between songs (keep it clean, fellas!)
If you do this, you can slowly wear down the resistance of the dial, and eventually, the wiring starts to wrap around. Could just be that the only connecting position is full throttle now.
This is usually overcome by regular servicing of your instruments. I put mine in for an overhaul every six months, and even if there is nothing wrong with it, it always comes back a little sharper!
Worth considering.
