|
|
I've been playing guitar for 5 or 6 years, and bass for around 5 or 6 months. I've known treble clef for 6 or 7 years, and now I have to teach myself bass clef. What's do you think is the easiest way to do that?
Thanks
Mike

Best way I found was to just start trying to read bass clef parts. Learn the chord notes on the staff and where they are on the fretboard (everywhere they are on the fretboard).
If you can identify where the low E, A, and D are, you can find the notes on either side of them easy enough and just count up or down for the next note. It's sort of a "relative to" proposition. A low G, for instance is (counting up from low E) E (open), F (1st fret), F# (2nd fret), G (ah...the 3rd fret).
This is about the only place scales really come in handy. You should think in terms of the chordal notes whenever possible. |
