Hey I've been playing Bass for a long time and have never got round to buying a Bass pedal with awesome sound effects...so I was wondering if you guys could gimmie some suggestions for heavy sounding pedals?...Kinda like to match sounds with the Bassits from these bands: Pantera, Judas Priest, Motley Crue....stuff like that. Any ideas? Question

lots of people gets lots of variety out of the SansAmp Bass Driver DI. You can just get a warm, tube emulated type of sound, or crank it up for some pretty smooth overdrive sounds. Pretty versatile. Plus, the new programmable version is much easier to use on stage as it gives you the ability to store and recall presets on the fly.

Otherwise, octaves are sometimes good for beefy sounds, the EH microsynth will rip your head off, and the Prunes & Custard will kick you in the nads. Combine the octave with the Prunes and you're ready to destroy some ear drums! Shocked

A lot of the Zoom boxes are pretty cool too. Inexpensive, and very flexible. I love mine.

I have been using DigiTech pedals for awhile now and love them. Very versatile. I kinda went crazy after a tax return one year and setup a pretty nasty pedalboard. The board is a Furman PB-8 that is the coolest board around for the money. Built power for 8 effects. Beautifully conditioned power, that Furman has become known for. As for the pedals, I have a Bass Synthwah, Bass Driver Distortion, HyperPhase phase shifter, Bass Chorus, Digital Delay, and then a Boss Tremolo box, a Dunlop Crybaby Wah pedal and lastly a Vox Volume pedal. This is all hooked together with various 6" DiMarzio cables and I use the George L cable systems that you make your own cables any size you want. No matter what combination of boxes are on, the signal is clean as a whistle. I used to have a DigiTech BP-200 but I never quite got it to do what I wanted. I don't like some of the "all in one" type pedal boards. They sound great but I think you are limited to the type of sounds you can get out of them. I think that's what I like about individual effect. More pricey, but you have complete control of each stage of your sound palette.

Basically the effects yer lookin for are an overdrive or distortion, octave and a chorus perhaps.
Lots of different options out ther and how much you want to spend. I am getting the job done with a BBE sonic stomp, SAns Amp Bass Driver, Boss overdrive, Doss CE2b chorus, Boss OC-2 octave. That gets pretty nasty and doesn't break the bank. May want to drop a Aphex punch factory optical compressor in there too.
