Has anybody done any work on Musicman basses?
Looking to change the pickup, already have tried the Seymour Duncan
replacement, but still not happy, thinking about either
2 jazz bass pickups or leaving the seymour in, but adding 1 jazz pickup close to the neck,,

Id think long & hard before modding a musicman... Musicmen arent known for their versatility, but are damned good at what they do (slap) & really arent cheap. If you hack it up, its value drops like a dead stone & chances are you still wont like the sound. You might do well selling it & picking up a jazz or fender deluxe. also, my Uncle just picked up a Dean Edge & It seems pretty damned decent & would have more tonial range to tinker with without changing pups.... Razz just my 2 cents

i was thinking about modding my stingray 4 string too. i saw the new HH models (double humbuckers) and i wanted to see if i couldnt turn my single humbucker model into one of those. i sent an email to music man asking if they do that or know of anybody else who does and if they knew of any other modding options for the stingray. of course, they said no to everything. this seems to reinforce what gibson_thunder said (although i dont know if i agree with the versatility thing). I modded my fender jazz bass, but i'm not going anywhere near my musicman without some sort of highly qualified professional.
