| My son is studying in Japan. He has his 1980 Ripper bass here at home. I would like to get it fixed up for him for when he comes back. One pickup is bad, needs cosmetics and handrest/string cover. May have issues I don't know about. I am in northern Illinois. Any recommendations who to go to to go through the electronics and cosmetics and get it back to nearly new? Thanks, Shanesdad |

Hi,
You can get the pups rewound at various places. I got some ripper pickups rewound by Kent Armstrong http://www.kentarmstrong.com/, although I used their UK branch. They have all the specs and did a great job
As for the bridge cover - they come up on ebay often enough, and are the same ones that go on EB basses, thunderbirds etc. Mind you, this is purely a cosmetic feature, and if you play down by the bridge they actually get in the way! Hence the number of them that get removed
