Well, I ended up buying a SR400 about 2 monthes ago, and I must say it is friggin unbeleivable. It plays like butter, the 3 band EQ lets me get any sound I want, and it's downright gorgeous.
Since buying it, my playing has improved vastly, especially my slapping capabilities.
It's quite light and small (but still has 24 frets) and is perfect for the smaller player and the neck is beautifully smooth.

So overall, this is a beautiful bass that plays like a dream. It's versatile, sounds great, and is deffinetly worth the moola. The elixer equipped strings are also a nice touch.

Yeah... the elixer's are great. Be careful, though. I bumped my bass into the keyboard at the first fret, and just the tinniest bump causes the elixres to 'squash.'
I don't know how much they are worth where you are, but where I am, they are $100 a set! Mine were less than a month old when I bumped them.
