| Ok, i need some serious help with a cab decision. I've narrowed it down to two choices. A new Acme Low B4 4x10 for $715, or a used Bag End 2x10 and 1x18 (D10-XD and S18B-D respectively) for $750. I've got a alembic f1-x preamp, and an SWR Stereo 800 power amp. My basses are a pedulla pentabuzz, elrick neck-through 6, and a wierd old warwick fortress 4. I play lots of different kinds of music but most of what i'd be doing with this would be rock/funk stuff. I had, but sold an ampeg svt4pro and and ampeg 8x10, it was too heavy and just mud. I'd like something that versitile, and preferable pretty loud, as i am looking to not loose too much volume from my old rig. Portablilty is also an issue, as i'd like to be able to move it myself. Anybody who knows anything about either of these please let me know. Thanks a ton. ~dan |

Hey Dan! Welcome aboard!
Man, I love those Pedulla basses. I've wanted one for 20 years.
I think the Bag End rig would compliment your setup fine, but I'm not familiar with the Acme cabs. I've never heard a Bag End that I didn't like.
You might want to look at the David Eden cabs, too. Really nice. |

Hey Crzy! I have play a Bag End single 15" cab and fell in love with it. That was about 6 years ago too and the sound that came out of it has never left my mind. I have not play on the specific cab that you are speakin of nor have any info on the Acme for you. I can just say that I would put my money on the Bag End equip. for two reasons...one, as I said I completely loved how the 15 sounded. (can just imagine what a 2x10 and 18 set up would be :O) and two... the cabs are compact for mobility. The 2x10 cab size specs are this...18.5x22.5x18.5
Plus you are in Wheaton Il and Bag End is made in Barrington Il. Last time I checked Park Ave. Music in Lombard had them in there show room. |
