aww man, you don't need 3 or 4 fingers for that, two is just fine for any metallica song, and if ur in good shape one finger is fine too (although maybe not for battery or something, that's a two fingerer) _________________ It's like a jungle out there |

This is true.
If one listens closely to Burton on some songs, Battery in particular, you can hear kind of (what I can only describe as) a sort of galloping bass strum created with his first three fingers. There's also footage I remember seeeing of him using four fingers as well. |

However, that being said, You'd have to practice 10 hours a day for several years to get any of his lines down on just 2 fingers. Maybe Four Horsemen would be a little easier than the rest of his lines, but if you wanted to play Anesthesia,For Whom the Bell Tolls,Orion,Call of Ktulu etc you'd have to use 3 or 4 fingers. |
I can play For Whom The Bell Tolls and Orion with 2 fingers and have only been playing about 5 months, I even used to play them with one finger when I first started |
