So I went out and bought another Rickenbacker 4001. I already own a 1973(?) Rickenbacker 4001. I saw another one from the same era and I bought it for a pretty reasonable price. I checked everything out on it and it all looked origonal and in working condition. I brought it home and plugged in and played it. I noticed a lot of static. The jacks looked old and rusted out. I took it to a friend of mine who is going to Luthier school. I ordered a stereo jack and a mono jack from Rickenbacker to replace the old ones. My friend opened it up at his shop and noticed that both the jacks were stereo jacks. Now I have owned a Rickenbacker for a while now and I know that the jack closest to the strap is a mono and the other is a stereo. My friend said both jacks were wired for a stereo jack. Anyone ever heard of this? Is this a custom job by somebody other that Rickenbacker? I just don't see a point of having 2 stereo jacks. _________________ Sometimes we ride on your horses

...or it is a mod done by it's former owner. _________________ Throw that piece of firewood where it belongs and get yourself a Rickenbacker! |
