Hi
check out
http://www.gibsonbass.com/EB0.php
theres plenty of pics and soundclips too.
I love EBOs. EB3s are just EBOs with a pickup that I don't use so much added.
Warm, melting butter. If you like your bass bassy try out an EBO!

yep... light, small, muddy... you cant get much more output from passive pups - 10,000 winds on the massive humbucker. it is my bass of choice for the fact that you cant get a more powerful sounding bass when you use it to overdrive tubes or use a big muff or something similar to add bite. it is a short scale unless you find a rarer long scale... its pretty straight forward with a tone & volume knob, one pickup, mahogany body & set neck. dont try slapping it,cause it wont work - nothing but sweet sweet thunder mud. watch the neck joint & headstock, those are the weak points of the little monster. to hear it in action, check out the album "Twin Peaks" by Mountain. Felix Pappalardi plays an EB-0 on the Nantucket Sleighride track. _________________ --==Warum tut es weh, wenn ich pinkele?==-- |

I have heard that the very rare early 60-61? black plastic cover pickup ones sound the best. The black pickup with the poles near the neck are supposed to be the best of all. They are supposed to be a bit clearer, but still shake the earth. This is what I have been told. The early Gibson bridges are not so great as far as intonation goes. In the seventies they replaced them with the better three point Gibson bridge. The EB-0 pick up is unique as the bassiest ground shaking pick up. Billy Sheehan put one on his early "WIFE" bass to get that tone. Latter his Attitude bass has the Dimarzio version. I like the body contours of the 60's ones better. The 70's version is more slab like.

Also Grand Funk's bass player stuck one in the middle of his pickguard on his Fender.
EB-O's are known to rattle the earth as well as blow out speakers, so be carefull if you try one out at Guitar Center! _________________ Barkless Dog |
