hi i am just wondering whether u can connect a 4 ohm speaker to one output on an amp and an 8 ohm speaker to the other output. The minimum load on the amp is 4 ohms.

Nope. I am not sure what will happen, but in order to run both into the amp they both need to be an 8ohm cab. If it is a 4ohm cab that you can only run that cab through the amp unless your amp can run at 2 ohms.

A little math Shocked but this might help. I found it on the net awhile ago and it is correct for parallel cab connection which is what you are doing if you connect multiple cabs to a modern amp or daisy chain from one cab to the next:

The total resistance Rt is calculated as;
1/Rt (resistance total in ohms) = 1/R1 (resistance cab 1 in ohms) + 1/R2 (cab 2) + 1/R3 + ..... + 1/Rn

For example:

Two 8 ohm cabs in parallel gives you:
1/Rt = 1/8 + 1/8 = 1/4
Rt = 4 ohms

An 8 ohm cab in parallel with a 4 ohm cab gives you:
1/Rt = 1/8 + 1/4 = 3/8
Rt = 8/3 = 2 2/3 ohms

The 8 ohm cab will not be as loud as the 4 ohm cab

And if the outputs are tied together (not biamped) your total impedance will be 2.67ohms as stated previously.
