I'm stumped. I can't find the answer, but I'll be sure to let you know when I run into it.

Fenders really aren't known for active pickups. Basses that pioneered active electronics were Music Man, Burns and Alembic. I'll try and see what I can dig up on the first active Fender, though.

probably the jazz. i mean, hell, people loved the jazz at it was, but they also thought it needed a little EDGE
