I've been playing DR Low Riders for a few months now they have great tonal quality but i keep popping the g string. Anyone know of any strings that can be put through hell and last. _________________ now what do you suppose is in that little black case over there? |

Any string should last more than a month !!!
Are you certain it's a string problem, and not a guitar issue?
I personally use Dean Markley Blue Steel's ultra light, and I break a few A-strings, but I ride that *sometimes angry female* like nothing else. I have also come to accept that my bass has a 'tight spot' around the A string, so it's prone to breakage (I have found a lot of 6 strings seem to have a weak spot on them... but what can you do?).
Check that your strings are running a straight line from bridge to tuning key, and that their is no part of the bridge or tuning key touching the string where it shouldn't. The added friction will cause breakage. If all of that fails... buy a heavier guage. _________________ Alright!

| Sounds like more of a guitar problem to me too. I use GHS and DR and in four years I've probably broken two strings. I play alot so I change strings alot. You might have a burr in your saddle or something like that which causes the string to weaken and pop. |

| Ernie ball powerslinkies. that or GHS heavies. power slinkies work well for me. i beat the living crapola out of each string and i have yet to witness my Gstring popping. if anything, i saw the nut on my fretboard break shortly after i put on a set of powers!! besides, heavy strings, from what i notice, actually make passive electronics better. don't know why but the first time i put on new powerslinkies, the tone was really responsive and bright, and the only defect to using them is shortly after the weak you buy them, they start feeling a little lighter. i donno, it's the string that works for me |

Are you a pci k player or a fingers players?
Are you breaking the string during popping?
I am just rough on strings I play with fingers but I break A strings like they are just strands of hair.
I have used boomers, about 3 to 5 weeks if gigging, if not they dont dbreak.
Dean Markley Rounds good tone not very long life breaks fairly easy live for me, again no gigs, no breaks.
Dean MArkley Blasters, GREAT VALUE, you get two sets for one price.good tone about the same life as boomers and around the same price only you get two sets. Live I can slay them at home no breaks yet.
Dadarrio's strings suck they suck break break break, dead tone fast, I hate them. PErsonal opion though.
Fender strings not bad never played live with them.
NOW FOR MY BABIES
Blue Steels I love in the studio, they seems to last me the longest break wise, but I have noticed if I don't clean them I pay for it. I have broken a lot of them but they seem to last the longest.
I have used have also used the Blue Steel Bronze I think that is what they are called once. THey are kinda neat.
I want to get into the colored strings if anyone has used them.
IF you can't ell my the strings that I have used, MArkley are my most used.
Again this is ust my personal take on it. |

You may be pulling to high, if you notice that I mentioned I break strings live but not at home.
When I am home I seem to do most things the correct tway, when I play live I go for show, I pull my strings farther then I need to, I strike harder then I need, everything is to teh extreme.
Are yulling to far?
If yo have a bur you may want to go to the local guitar shop and ask them to repair it,about 15 bucks, unless something needs replace. |

I vote for overzealous .
I've had no problems with medium guage strings. I have a set of Ernie Balls and the original Ibanez strings that both have lasted a year each (I always wipe them down good after use, don't play hard, and only play a few hours a week). So like everyone else said: keep them thick and keep them clean! |
